The Yorke Peninsula Council is excited to welcome back our much loved Yorke Peninsula (YP) Art Exhibition over the 2021 Easter Long Weekend following last year’s postponement due to Covid-19.Mayor Darren Braund explained “the creation and enjoyment of art has been a welcome escape which has been embraced by our community more than ever over the last 12 months. We know the creation and enjoyment of art plays an important role on the Yorke Peninsula. The 2021 YP Art Exhibition is a unique opportunity for us celebrate and share local creativity and bring people together. The Exhibition will see Artists competing for over $12,000 in prize money. We will of course, ensure a Covid Safe environment that will safeguard the health and well-being of all our artist’s, volunteers and visitors.“

Today we are calling artists who, despite the challenges of this past year, have kept making art. Entries are now open for the 11th YP Art Exhibition across three genres of fine-art/painting, sculpture and photography.

The Exhibition will open to the public over the Easter Long Weekend from Friday 2 to Monday 5 April 2021. Due to its size, the YP Art Exhibition is hosted across three regional venues in Ardrossan (fine art/painting), Edithburgh (sculpture) and Yorketown (photography).

School Registrations are also now open. Showcasing the best of our local primary and secondary school’s art and design students. Competing for over $1,100 in prize money, we will proudly exhibit the creative talents of our next generation of artists

As always, this exhibition would not be possible without the assistance of our great local sponsors including our enduring Major Sponsors – Ardrossan, Edithburgh and Yorketown Progress Associations.

For 2021 we have introduced some new initiatives to help artists get involved. These include:

  • artists who registered for the 2020 Exhibition are eligible to enter four (4) entries for the price of three (3);
  • Registration Fees are $15.00 per artwork;
  • you can register for more than one art category;
  • a minimum price for artworks in the 2021 Art Exhibition of $100.00;
  • artwork made / created in the last three (3) years up from the usual two (2) years are eligible;
  • students will exhibiting alongside emerging and established artists and eligible for the main award prizes; &
  • Schools can register without having to provide images of students work at time of registration.

In 2021 our award winning Biennial Exhibition will be back as strong as ever. The 2018 Exhibition, attracted over 2,500 people over the Easter Long Weekend and sold 50 artworks totalling $17,320 in sales for artists.

Prior to the postponement of the 2020 Exhibition, 237 works of art had been registered (excluding student’s work). We are looking forward to meeting and exhibiting new artists in 2021 as well as seeing the return of our wonderful and talented 2020 artists.
