Air France customers have been able to travel in a carbon-neutral way throughout mainland France thanks to the company’s decision to proactively offset 100% of COemissions on its domestic flights. Concretely, the emissions of 450 flights per day and 57,000 customers are being offset.

This voluntary offsetting initiative takes the form of participation in projects in the area of reforestation, forest preservation and biodiversity, and renewable energies, all certified by the most demanding international standards.

Air France is currently inviting its customers to get actively involved in this initiative by voting for a project among the following –

–    a forest preservation project in Brazil, in the Amazon river delta,
–    a photovoltaic programme in Senegal allowing the populations who currently don’t have access to electricity to take advantage of a clean and renewable energy source,
–    a biogas production programme in Vietnam developing a new energy source from waste.

The programme receiving the highest number of votes will, starting this year, be included in Air France’s offsetting initiative.

Votes can be submitted from 10 to 17 January 2020, at 4pm on a dedicated site presenting all the projects supported by Air France, in France and worldwide (Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kenya and Peru).

At the same time, 8 other projects, on 4 continents, have been selected and launched in partnership with EcoAct, a pioneer in carbon offsetting in France, to implement Air France’s new commitment.
