Cathay Pacific yesterday became the first airline to launch the world’s most advanced aircraft in Australia – the Airbus A350-1000 – with flights into both Melbourne and Perth.
Today (Monday 28 October 2019), the airline will continue to upgrade key city services with an A350-900 arriving to replace the A330 on Sydney’s CX111 and CX110 services.
The advanced A350-1000, like its -900 sibling, brings together the very latest in aerodynamics, design and advanced technologies, providing improved fuel efficiency as well as a state-of-the-art travel experience for customers.
From a quieter cabin to LED mood lighting, the aircraft greatly improves passenger comfort and helps travellers arrive at their destination feeling refreshed.
All Cathay Pacific A350 aircraft are also equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing customers to remain connected throughout their journey. New inflight entertainment offerings across the fleet will keep passengers entertained with newly released movies, more complete boxsets and live sports events.
Cathay Pacific Regional General Manager – South West Pacific Rakesh Raicar said: “We are proud to be the first airline to launch the A350-1000 in Australia and to offer one of the youngest long-haul fleets in the sky.”
“At Cathay Pacific, our passengers remain our top priority. The launch of this aircraft will allow us to deliver further enhanced features that improve the comfort and overall travel experience of our guests.”
With the arrival of more A350-1000 aircraft over the coming years, a majority of flights to and from Australia will be served by an A350 aircraft. The -1000 for the Melbourne and Perth route will carry a total of 334 passengers across its Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins, 54 more passengers than the airline’s A350-900 aircraft serving Sydney.
Melbourne Airport Acting Chief of Aviation, Katie Cooper said she was pleased Melburnians would be among the first in the country to experience travel on an Airbus A350-1000 thanks to Cathay Pacific.
“Cathay Pacific is taking passenger comfort to the next level with the introduction of its A350-1000. We’re pleased it is servicing the Melbourne market on such a popular route that carries more than 550,000 people annually,” Cooper said.
Out of Australia, Cathay Pacific has over 70 flights a week to Hong Kong from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. All flights provide excellent connections to the airline’s worldwide network, including an extensive number of cities in mainland China served by Cathay Dragon.
