Buick Management’s chic, contemporary Chiu Chow restaurant Chateh is celebrating Father’s Day with family-sized banquet and dim sum menus at Mira Place One in Tsim Sha Tsui from 8-9 and 15-16 June 2019.

Chateh continues the tradition of one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most popular restaurant chains, Pak Loh Chiu Chow, with a focus on family-friend gatherings and a trendy modern vibe at Mira’s newly-renovated FoodLoft.

Father’s Day menus showcase its traditional home-style Chiu Chow cuisine by Executive Chef Hui Mei Tak, a leading master of the culinary school of southern Guangdong.

A choice of two 12-course dinner feasts are priced HK$4,280 for 12 and HK$2,180 for 6, or HK$5,680 for 12 and HK$2,880 for 6 – along with an exquisite Chiu Chow Dim Sum Platter for afternoon ‘yum-cha’ priced HK$198.

Set of Joy priced HK$4,280 for 12 guests or HK$2,180 for 6 guests starts with appetisers of Deep-fried Bombay Duck Fish with Spiced Salt and Chiu Chow Marinated Diced Pork & Bell Pepper.  A platter of Chiu Chow Salted Chicken with Soyed Pork Trotter features two of the restaurant’s most popular signature dishes.

The feast continues with Seafood Soup Stuffed in Winter Melon, Baked Sea Prawn Coated with Salted Egg Yolk, Steamed Threadfin with Eggplant in Bean Sauce & Ginger, and Roast Baby Pigeon with Caesar Salad.

Completing the Father’s Day special are Stewed Seasonal Vegetables with Conpoy and Stir-fried Longevity Noodle – and three desserts ofLongevity Peach Bun Stuffed with Lotus Paste, Braised Papaya & Snow Ear Sweet Soup, and Seasonal Fruit Platter.

Set of Happiness presents a more premium option with 12 courses priced HK$5,680 for 12 or HK$2,880 for 6.  The menu starts with identical appetisers, Deep-fried Bombay Duck Fish with Spiced Salt and Chiu Chow Marinated Diced Pork & Bell Pepper.

Variation on the theme begins with a platter of Soyed Goose Meat with Goose Liver and Kidney, and Premium Seafood Soup with Bamboo Pith. Main courses continue with Baked Sea Prawn with E-fu Noodle, Roast Baby Pigeon with Caesar Salad, Steamed Whole Crab with Pork Patty, and Stewed Chinese Cabbage with Conpoy and Minced Pork.

Completing the feast is Stir-fried Longevity Noodle, with the same three desserts of Longevity Peach Bun with Lotus Paste, Braised Papaya & Snow Ear Sweet Soup, and Seasonal Fruit Platter.

Alternative to the banquets, Chateh’s classic signature dim sum are perfect for celebrating Father’s Day or any other lunch gatherings, highlighting Steamed Whole Abalone ‘Siu Mai’ (HK$118), ‘Funny Roll’ Streamed Rice Roll Stuffed with Crispy Rice Roll (HK$68),Steamed Chicken with Red Date and Huan Diao Wine (HK$58), Deep-fried Tofu Roll Stuffed with Shredded Radish (HK$60)Steamed Red Date & Lotus Seed Pudding (HK$48) and more.

An exquisite Chiu Chow Dim Sum Platter (HK$198) is also ideally styled for just two – featuring two pieces each of eight signature dim sum specialties, served at traditional ‘yum cha’ hours from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Elegantly presented over two-tiers separating steamed and fried items, steamed specialties feature Chiu Chow Glutinous Rice Rolls‘Fun Guo’ Steamed Chiu Chow Pork Dumplings with Radish & PeanutSteamed Salty Crystal Dumplings, and Steamed Sweet Crystal Dumplings (Red Bean Paste & Egg Custard); while Pan-fried & deep-fried favourites are Deep-fried Taro Spring RollsBaked Chives CalzonesPan-fried Chives Dumplings, and Pan-fried Bamboo Shoot Dumplings.

Signature a la carte dishes extend to Deluxe Platter of 3/Catty Abalone, Goose Web, Pomelo Peel & Black Mushroom (HK$388 per person), Chiu Chow Fried Crab with Glutinous Rice (HK$498), Half Pan-fried & Half Poached Threadfin (HK$298), Deep-fried Sea Prawn wrapped with Crispy Noodle (HK$68 per piece, minimum 2 orders), Soyed Goose Meat Platter (Small : HK$118; Regular : HK$168), Hand-shredded Chicken with Sesame Sauce (Half : HK$128; Whole : HK$248), Steamed Eel with Black Bean Sauce(HK$148), and Poached Beef Brisket and Radish in Clear Broth (HK$128).

Among specialty snacks of Chateh are Deep-fried Pork Ribs Marinated in Fermented Tofu Sauce (HK$78), Crispy Chiu Chow Tofu(HK$68), and Housemade Fish Ball with Chinese Cabbage in Pot (Small: HK$78; Regular: HK$108) – plus Chiu Chow specialties ofSoyed Sliced Beef Shank & Red Sausage (HK$78) and Soyed Pig’s Trotters (HK$78).

While modern in outlook, interior design of Chateh respects the roots of its cuisine; reminiscent of Chiu Chow villages in southern Guangdong, styled in natural wood colours with sea and river-life elements reflecting seafood’s considerable importance in the local culinary style.

Chateh is located at Shop 405, L4, FoodLoft, Mira Place One, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.  It opens from 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday; and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on Saturday to Sunday and public holidays.

It is operated by Hong Kong-based hospitality group Buick Management, synonymous with Chiu Chow cuisine in Hong Kong since launching Pak Loh Chiu Chow in Causeway Bay in 1967. The group also runs Pak Lok Chiu Chow in Times Square, K11 and Elements, as well as Moon Lok Chiu Chow in Citygate and Moon Lok Chinese Restaurant in Xiqu Centre.
