Whether you are in town during Chicago Restaurant Week or are just looking for new eateries to try during a later visit, the following concepts are not to be missed.

The Michelin Stars

Kostali (521 N Rush St.) – In partnership with The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, James Beard Award-Winning chef Carrie Nahabedian and her cousin Michael Nahabedian (who oversees the beverage program) are debuting a new restaurant on premises. Kostali (which means “coastal” in Maltese) features a menu inspired by the Southern European and North African coasts of the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel and Morocco.

Tzuco (720 N State St.) – Carlos Gaytán, who holds the distinction of being the first Mexican Chef to receive a Michelin star (for Mexique in 2013 and 2014), has opened Tzuco in River North neighborhood of Chicago. Tzuco, an abbreviation of Huitzuco (the small town in Guerrero, Mexico where Gaytán was born), tells the story of his life through his culinary creations, presenting the best of Mexican cuisine infused with the French haute cuisine techniques he acquired over the course of his career.

The Philanthropist

Centre Street Kitchen (1224 W Webster Ave) – Centre Street Kitchen’s new American chef-driven menu showcases modern dishes with locally sourced ingredients and global flavors. But beyond the kitchen, owner Erik Baylis is doing good work with his plans to raise $7,000,000 for pediatric cancer patients. For a $100 donation, guests at the Lincoln Park restaurant are invited to add the names of friends and family members who are cancer survivors, still fighting or have lost the battle, with all proceeds going directly to the cancer foundation.

The Pizzaiolo

l’Aventino Forno Romano (355 E Ohio St.) – Located in the Streeterville neighborhood, Chef Adam Weisell’s pizzeria highlights pinsa, a next-generation Roman-style pizza with an airy texture, moist and fragrant crumb and crispy exterior. Pinsa is also naturally much lower in gluten, carbohydrates and fat than traditional pizza dough!

The Chicago Editions

TimeOut Market Chicago (916 W Fulton Market) – The Chicago edition of the popular food hall concept features 18 unique food experiences in 50,000 square feet of hand-picked dining from some of Chicago’s most revered chefs including Thai Dang, Bill Kim, Bryan Fisher, Abe Conlon, Zoe Schor and more.
