Chinese & Truffles: The Ultimate Culinary Combo

It’s a widespread consensus that truffles, the undisputed fungi king, elevate almost any meal. So, imagine adding such an incredible little ingredient to another highly coveted cuisine: Chinese!

Well, Melburnians need not imagine anymore; in a move that has foodies salivating like never before, fine Chinese cuisine hotspot, Yu Kitchen, has teamed up with culinary festival favourite, Truffle Melbourne, to deliver two exclusive Truffle Discovery and Wine Pairing Degustation Dinners in June.

Guests will enjoy 6 exclusive courses of fresh Australian truffle dishes combining Yu Kitchen’s signature blend of traditional and homemade Chinese cuisine, created by Executive Chef Bernard Kong, who boasts more than 16 years experience and two Chefs Hat from the prestigious Gault & Millau Restaurant Guide.

The Dinners come as part of Truffle Melbourne’s 2019 program, which is back for its sixth consecutive year this winter.

Truffle Melbourne is all about demystifying the truffle, making it accessible and informing people about how to source it, store it and savour it. And boy has Melbourne taken note; over 40,000 people participated in the Truffle Melbourne 2018 program and this year’s Yu Kitchen collaboration has already seen its first dinner sell out!

A joint venture between The Oriental and Ruyi Group in Malaysia and renowned Calia Collective of Australia, Yu Kitchen encourages guests to discover and explore new and quirky dishes with its take on classic flavours with a touch of modernity. This newest venture with Truffle Melbourne only serves to further cement Yu Kitchen as a leading culinary contender in the Melbourne food arena.

The second event will be held on Tuesday 11 June at 7pm and places are very limited. With some big names in the food and wine game coming together to present this divine degustation, this is not one to miss.

Course 3 – Hokkaido Scallop wrapped in Yunnan Ham, Truffle & Pumpkin Veloute

Course 4 – Crispy Berkshire Pork Belly, Truffled Pear foam, Spiced Carrot Puree

Course 5 – Drunken Free-Range Chicken Roulade, Velvet Truffled Egg, Asparagus Fried Rice
