Our favourite inner-city deco haunt has received a taste of la vita nuova. The entry level of QT Sydney – formerly known as Parlour Lane Roasters – has come sauntering back as Parlour Cucina, an Italian trattoria serving up new Italian, done the old way.

The former café will continue serving espresso by Little Marionette from 6.30am to the discerning Sydney CBD crowd and will now offer an Italian inspired lunch and dinner menu to take you to aperitif hour and beyond, all in a brand new setting that nonna would be proud of.

Intimate tables and a burnished bar suit the smart casual business lunch, or an afterhours ragù and pinot noir, with the menu embracing simplicity over superficial. Guests are invited to indulge in fresh Calamari Fritti and Carpaccio Capri-style, matched with vino di tavola flowing from a laid-back list.

Led by QT Hotels & Resorts’ Creative Food Director, Robert Marchetti, in conjunction with QT Sydney Executive Chef, Michael Box, Parlour Cucina pays homage to the heritage of the building and is reminiscent of the 1960’s café era.

Marchetti said, “Parlour Cucina captures the free spirited essence of the 1960’s Milan café era, with a side of QT’s famous quirk and creativity. It’s the city’s neighbourhood Cafeteria serving nostalgic Italian fare with a flirtatious twist.”

He continued, “We want people to embrace the old new world. From the cracked floors through to the wine cellar, heritage listed glass cabinets and old-school furnishings; Parlour Cucina is the new kid on the block with urbane attitude.”

From 6.30am Monday to Saturday and 8am on Sunday, Parlour Cucina specialises in flavours that evoke feeling. Breakfast includes classic Italian espresso and artisanal milk varieties including hemp and date, paired with a menu of Panini Di Patate with truffled eggs, pancetta, asiago cheese and lemon spinach or a Spinach Pea Zucchini Frittata Wedge with a sunny side up egg and pickled chilli.  In typical Italian fashion, no one goes hungry at Parlour Cucina with dietary requirements well catered for thanks to options of Seeded Macadamia-Millet Granola with coconut yoghurt and steamed fruit.

From 11am till 10pm Parlour Cucina turns into a bohemian city escape heroing simple, fresh produce, passionately prepared and served with classic generosity. Delight the tastebuds with a Beef Carpaccio and four cheese Arancini or pamper the stomach with Our Insalata Caprese followed by classic Parmigiana six hour slow roast lamb Rigatoni.

Aperitivo hour in Parlour Cucina is taken as seriously as its food.  Curated by QT Hotels’ Group Wine Director Chris Morrison, the list is rich in local wines inspired by Italian varieties.

Morrison said, “The wine list blends Italy and Australia with a focus on wines that are purpose built for the simple and clean flavours of our menu.  We bring together winemakers who are the innovators and classicists with a fun, relaxed vibe.  We want guests to feel like this is a ‘push button’ wine list; compact, easy to use, all killers and no fillers. It’s wine for today but with a touch of nostalgia.”

Boasting dishes to illuminate dates, and desserts to sweeten friendships, Parlour Cucina is a destination that kisses you on both cheeks.
