cievents has been named Best Large Agency of the Year and taken out the Team-Building Activity of the Year for Hike for Light at 2020’s C&IT APAC Awards.

The award-winning team were also highly commended in the Best Incentive of the Year category for Flight Centre Travel Group’s 2019 Global Gathering in Las Vegas.

The awards cap off an incredible 12 months for the global meetings and events agency, who produced scores of events for over 400 clients around the world.  On top of producing award-winning events, they launched a new look onboarding and L&D platform – ciacademy, and created an industry-facing content campaign – Business as (un)usual, a rapid-response to the effects of COVID-19 on the meetings and events industry.

cievents Global General Manager Natalie Simmons acknowledges while the past 12 months has definitely presented challenges for the agency and its clients, it’s also delivered incredible achievements in what is a watershed moment for the meetings and events sector.

“We are so incredibly proud to have won two major event categories this year at the C&IT APAC Awards,” says Natalie.

“These awards acknowledge that we’ve always been one of the first to anticipate technological revolutions, and the past six months have shown we can rapidly respond to a global pandemic with confidence and expertise. To win such prestigious awards confirms that we’ll always champion our customer’s cause and create inspiring audience experiences.”

“I’m so proud of what we have been able to achieve during 2019, and humbled by our people’s true resilience in tough times. As we move into the second half of FY20, I’m confident our vision for the company and the decisions made to ensure ongoing success will deliver more experiences that create memories.”

Winning the Team-Building Activity of the Year for Hike for Light is one that is particularly close to the cievents team’s heart. Unique to the Australian market, Hike for Light has cievents partnering with SolarBuddy and OnTrack Expeditions to deliver a three-night corporate retreat where teams have the chance to make a positive difference for communities living in energy poverty. This engaging, hands-on experience provides teams with the opportunity to learn about energy poverty, raise funds for solar lights and then distribute them to children to better their education and create a brighter future.

In addition to cievents’ efforts in raising awareness of energy poverty, the C&IT APAC award judging panel has praised cievents rapid response to COVID-19 and its ongoing mission to develop and implement new technological experiences.

“cievents has extremely impressive client and employee retention numbers which speaks volumes. They are constantly evolving in strategy and positioning as an agency and have an impressive technology stack for both internal processes and client and event solutions,” the judging panel said.

“Our industry is increasingly becoming challenging to serve, and it is impressive that cievents is hitting 90% on customer retention whilst delivering a record growth year with 20 YOY growth, which is a big achievement for a large agency.”
