Welcoming the 2019/2020 winter season in Zermatt with a big warm hug this year is Hotel Mama.
After a complete revamp and transformation of the previous Hotel Admiral to what is now a fun, vibrant, modern and quirky hotel that aims to provide that longed-for cosiness and homeliness, Hotel Mama will be opening its doors in December.
Offering guests a selection of 29 beautifully appointed new rooms, a brand new co-working space and a contemporary ‘Zer Mama Bistro’, the hotel is an ideal oasis for individualists, explorers and mountain lovers.
To add to the excitement in Zermatt, a new Igloo Village will open its doors from mid Dec, where it will feature a restaurant, an outdoor bar, overnight “rooms”, and a spa set against the backdrop of the magnificent Matterhorn. In addition, ice artists will create a snow palace featuring snow and ice carved animals of the underwater world.
Ski and snowboard enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that Zermatt’s ski fields have opened and a total of 50 km of pistes in the Matterhorn ski paradise are available and accessible now.
Zermatt is on one end of the spectacular Glacier Express Panoramic rail journey (accessible with the Swiss Travel Pass) that connects to St Moritz on the east side of Switzerland.
