COMO Hotels and Resorts has today announced a new collection of experiences for 2020, designed to build communities that are local to the brand’s luxury portfolio of hotels and resorts around the world.

COMO Conversations, a series of evening talks, workshops and collaborative events, will connect guests with inspirational experts and thought leaders on the topics of wellness, conservation and sustainability, design and creativity. The events will stimulate curiosity with open dialogues, tapping into knowledge and expertise that facilitates fresh understanding.

Hosted by our hotels and resorts around the world, COMO Conversations offers a collection of thought-provoking dialogues with inspirational people. Each event will be varied – some will focus on an individual, others will be centred on an issue, but all will include an opportunity to meet and hear stories from artists, authors and innovators in our dynamic destinations.

This September, COMO Conversations will launch in Perth at COMO The Treasury with a conversation between three of the city’s most prominent arbiters of multi arts programming: Shelagh Magadza, Wendy Martin and Iain Grandage – all of whom have held tenure as Artistic Director of Perth Festival.

‘The Three Tenures’ will share their stories of navigating the path for the oldest festival in the Southern Hemisphere, offering a chance to hear about the thrill of a momentous commission, tough decisions and the evolving responsibility of the role in a social context. From strategy to storytelling, it is a conversation that cannot be missed.

The discussion will be led by award-winning journalist and interviewer Meri Fatin. Fatin has interviewed the likes of author Margaret Atwood, broadcaster Dr Michael Mosley and Dutch artist and innovator Daan Roosegaarde, though she says that it’s the “achingly honest conversations” she’s had with lesser-known names that have been her career highlights.

“We are thrilled to be launching COMO Conversations at COMO The Treasury”, says Hotel Manager, Jesse Tibert. “COMO The Treasury is the centrepiece of Perth’s iconic State Buildings which have become a cultural hub for the city, so it feels very fitting that we will be hosting a discussion with such a formidable panel of creatives”.

“Perth is full of creative, agile and innovative thinkers, and people really live and breathe art and culture here”, explains Fatin. “It’s incredibly exciting that we are bringing together three former and current artistic directors of Perth Festival in conversation as it is the first time they’ve ever sat down together; it’s unprecedented. The Artistic Director role holds the weight of all our expectations, so I know the conversation is going to be full of some wonderful stories and thoughtful points for discussion.”

COMO Conversations will continue throughout 2020 with further opportunities to meet and hear stories from local artists, authors and innovators at COMO The Treasury and across the COMO Hotels and Resorts portfolio.
