As the world leader in travel experiences for 18 to 35 year olds, Contiki knows that travellers are now seeking travel inspiration for their next trip. Earlier this month, Contiki hosted six travel agent partners along with 15 influencers from India on a “Thai Northern Highlights” trip. MMT, Travel Tours, SOTC, Cozy Holidays and Faro Holidays were the travel agents that were invited on the trip.

Influencers who went on the trip were: @indiapictures; @diksha04; @shivisha_; @urmidaga; @hemalved; @itisinthename; @monkey.inc; @grabyourglobe; @radhika_nomllers; @nikimehra; @pallavisinghtdg; @shetroublemaker; @srish_teee; @ankitbhatiafilms and @wanderwithsky.

The “Thai Northern Highlights” Contiki trip started from Bangkok and headed to the rolling hills of North Thailand, and along the way, visited iconic sites like the Grand Palace and Erawan Falls. A trip highlight for many was an ethical experience where the group got up close and personal with rescued elephants at an Elephant Sanctuary in Chang Mai.

To get to their special stay in Kanchanaburi, everyone travelled by boat on River Kwai where they stayed overnight in a floating jungle raft. After exploring UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya on a bike tour they then travelled to Chang Mai by overnight sleeper train.

“Travel inspired storytelling is a great way for us to showcase the experiences that take place on our Contiki trips. Through their stories shared on their social channels, the group of influencers we invited are able to showcase the people, trip highlights and topics that inspire millennial travellers to explore the world,” said Darshan Maheshwani, Country Manager, India and the Middle East, The Travel Corporation.

Contiki’s new & improved Asia product for 2020-21 features trips designed to get travellers under the skin of Asia, with a range of cultural, local, food, wellness/active and ethical experiences.

Contiki’s popular Asia trips are Small Group adventures – groups of 30 or less – meaning all trips in the region can focus on providing real, local and unique experiences for travellers, alongside the bucket-list tickers like Angkor Wat, the Great Wall of China, and Thai’s popular island hotspots.

Contiki’s complete Asia product offering delivers an impressive variety of ethical experiences on each trip, supported by Contiki’s partnership with the Treadright Foundation. The included & optional ethical experiences on Contiki’s Asia trips include visits to the Tree Alliance Restaurant, Cambodia, teaching valuable skills to former street kids;  the Ock Pop Tok Centre, Laos, supporting female textile artisans; the Dhonk Centre, India, a handicraft centre for wives of former tiger poachers; the COPE Centre, Laos, providing prosthetic limbs and support for people with mobility related disabilities; the Panda Sanctuary & Breeding Centre, China, protecting and preserving the lives of pandas; Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Centre, Sri Lanka, helping to prevent the poaching of turtle eggs, and visits to a Kanchanaburi Elephant Sanctuary and Chiang Mai Elephant Nature Park, Thailand, helping rehabilitate vulnerable elephants back into the wild. Through Contiki’s partnership with WE charity, travellers also have the option to book a ME to WE volunteer trip in northern India as a solo excursion or add-on to Contiki’s Eternal India trip.
