Coral Expeditions, Australia’s pioneering cruise line, will continue to offer guests sightings of Komodo dragons on Rinca Island and uninterrupted views of Anak Krakatoa on their unique ‘Komodo Dragons & Krakatoa’ voyages to the seafaring Kingdom of Sulawesi in January and February 2020.

Encounters with the famed Komodo dragons will not be compromised as the ship ventures to heritage listed Rinca Island, part of the Komodo Island National Park and unaffected by the park’s access changes.

“Rinca, the neighbouring island to Komodo, is home to more than 1,400 of these giant lizards. Coral Expeditions guests will still experience the famed dragons at this lesser-visited spot and be able to walk on the famous Pink Beach located in the Komodo National Park,” said Jeff Gillies, Commercial Director of Coral Expeditions.

Mr Gillies added: “As we can get closer than larger ships, our vantage point of the recently erupted Anak Krakatoa is breathtaking and promises spectacular uninterrupted views. We will always be guided by nature’s conditions and it’s a privilege indeed for our guests to experience this.”

Staying true to their expedition roots, Coral Expeditions promise access to some of the best parts of Indonesia’s archipelago in the comforts of purpose-built, technologically advanced Coral Adventurer.

Guests on board the Komodo Dragons & Krakatoa sailing will witness endangered species such as orangutans, macaques and the Javan rhinoceros during visits to National Parks at Ugong Kulon and Tanjung Puting.

Expert lecturers have been selected to deepen the guest experience and encourage more awareness into this region. Legendary ship master Commodore Christopher Rynd will join as a guest of Coral Expeditions, alongside guest lecturers Indonesian expert anthropologist Ian Burnet and marine biologist Mike Sugden.

The Komodo Dragons & Krakatoa cruise itinerary is offered in two directions; the first departure 15th January from Darwin finishing in Singapore; and second departure 2 February 2020 from Singapore to Darwin.
