Spectacular glaciers and icebergs, Norse ruins, remote fishing hamlets, seals, bears, humpback whales and one of the world’s longest fjords are just some of the highlights of an Adventure Canada expedition voyage from Iceland to Greenland in 2021, with savings offered for bookings made by mid-2020.

Adventure Canada and Cruise Traveller are offering a 15 per cent earlybird saving on the cruise as well as a free nights’ accommodation, meaning couples can save up to US$4000 if they book by June 1, 2020. As part of the special offer, no solo supplement will be charged for single travellers in selected cabin categories (3-7). Offers are subject to availability

Departing July 13, 2021, the 11-night ‘In the Wake of the Vikings’ cruise aboard Ocean Endeavour takes passengers from the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik – one of the cleanest and greenest cities on Earth – to the Westman Islands – home to numerous species of seabird including the eye-catching puffins – and on to Greenland, following the trail of Vikings over a thousand years ago.

Along the way, guests will watch for marine mammals and birdlife and learn from the expedition team who will showcase Greenland’s archaeology, history, culture and wildlife. The expedition ship will cruise through ice, looking for opportunities for zodiac explorations among the fjords, craggy mountain peaks, glacial tongues and more fertile lands of southern Greenland. Highlights of the cruise include a visit to Brattahlid – a World Heritage site where famous Viking explorer, Erik the Red, had his estate, complete with a reconstructed Viking longhouse – and Hvalsey, which has the best-preserved Norse ruins in Greenland. After visiting Nuuk – Greenland’s charming capital – and journeying further along the coastline, the cruise will culminate by sailing through the superb Sondre Stromfjord – which, at 168 kilometres, is one of the longest fjords in the world, before guests disembark at Kangerlussuaq.

Including a free night’s hotel accommodation in Reykjavik, the 11-night cruise, all shipboard meals, interactive workshops, all sightseeing and a one-way charter flight from Kangerlussuaq to Toronto, the cruise is available from US$6135 per person, twin share – including the 15 per cent discount, if booked by June 1, 2020. This represents a saving of more than US$1700 per couple.  The most exclusive suites (category 9) are available from US$12,766, including the 15 per cent discount, if booked by June 1, 2020 – a saving of over US$4000 per couple. The fares are also open to single travellers, with no solo supplements charged (for categories 3-7), subject to space at time of booking.

In 2021, Adventure Canada will also offer cruises through Basque Country in France and Spain, a voyage around the top of Scotland, a journey from Scotland to Iceland showcasing the Faroe Islands and a circumnavigation of Iceland.
