Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has announced the introduction of more local Australian beer, wine and spirits on board Vasco da Gamaahead of the ship’s arrival in Sydney this December.

CMV will showcase beverages from a range of Australian ports and regions, from much-loved brands such as Wirra Wirra, Jansz and Vasse Felix. The new initiative will also make Vasco da Gama the first international cruise ship to have beer from iconic Australian brand Coopers available on tap.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to support the amazing local producers from the regions Vasco da Gama will visit this summer,” says CMV Australia’s Managing Director, Dean Brazier.

Vasco da Gama will focus on championing domestic destinations in its upcoming season as well as the 2020/21 season, so it’s only fitting that on board the ship we celebrate some of the high-quality produce we have available in Australia.

“No matter where our guests are sailing to, they will now have the opportunity to taste the incredible flavours of our destinations on Vasco da Gama.”

Darren Chigwidden, National Sales Manager of CMV Australia, says, “Given the fantastic response to our recent announcement of the world-first ocean Boutique Gin and Culinary Cruise, which will also showcase regional beverages, it’s clear that Australian travellers relish the opportunity to sample local specialties.

“We are thrilled to be enhancing our on-board offering with our new beverage selection and hope this drives further excitement in the agent community about Vasco da Gama’s fast-approaching arrival.”

The new additions available on board will include products from Coopers (SA), Adelaide Gin (SA) and Giniversity (WA), as well as wines from Wirra Wirra (SA), Jansz (TAS), Pewsey Vale (SA), Yalumba (SA), Vasse Felix (WA) and more. These brands will be available from when the ship arrives in Sydney in December through to when she departs Fremantle on her journey back to the UK in February 2020.

“We are thrilled to take Coopers’ range of distinctive, traditional ales to the seas with Cruise & Maritime Voyages,” says Scott Harris, Marketing Manager of Brewing Products at Coopers Brewery.

“In a first for any cruise ship, guests onboard Vasco da Gama will now be able to enjoy Coopers Pale Ale on tap as well as other favourites from the Coopers range in cans and bottles. As a family owned South Australian company focussed on using traditional styles of brewing, we are pleased to partner with Cruise & Maritime Voyages who have such similar core values.”

Guests can enjoy significant discounts on the new beverages as part of the CMV’s Premium and VIP CMV Additions Packages, which start at $43pp per night and also include gratuities, discounts on specialty dining and more.*

To celebrate the announcement, the cruise line is also currently running an ‘October Extras’ promotion until the end of the month, offering guests up to 50% off selected voyages plus free drinks (including several of the new beverage additions), free gratuities, discounts on specialty dining and more. The offer is available on new bookings for a selection of upcoming voyages**.
