Cruise Critic has recognised Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) as one of Australia’s top cruise lines in its Annual Editors’ Picks Awards. The independent cruise line took out the category of ‘Best for Solo’.

Louise Goldsbury, Managing Editor for Cruise Critic Australia, said, “For CMV, solo travellers are not an afterthought. Based in WA and SA, Vasco da Gama has 40 twin-size cabins permanently designated for single occupancy. Columbus and Magellan have 150 twin-size solo cabins while Marco Polo and Astoria have 15. Early booking specials offer solo cabins for up to 45 per cent less than the twin-share equivalent, and the line hosts dedicated social events for solo travellers.”

Dean Brazier, Managing Director of CMV Australia, said the cruise line had always strived to make cruise and travel accessible to everyone.

“Cruise & Maritime Voyages has worked hard to provide an experience that is compelling, inclusive and enriching for solo guests.

“Solo travellers are an integral part of the Cruise & Maritime Voyages experience and they contribute greatly to our rich, friendly atmosphere onboard. As with all our guests, solo travellers love the warm welcome of our crew and the opportunity to bond with other like-minded guests.

“These travellers greatly enjoy the comfort that comes with cruising in one of the many spacious twin-cabins that we dedicate for solo use on every cruise, as well as our exceptional fares that make travelling solo a more realistic option.

“This award adds to our recent celebrations of CMV’s ten-year anniversary and the inaugural Australasian season of our new ship Vasco da Gama, which arrived to Australian waters this week,” Mr Brazier said.

The AU Editors’ Pick Awards are selected by a global panel of impartial cruise experts from Cruise Critic, to highlight the best ocean, river and luxury cruise lines for Australian travellers. These awards combine Cruise Critic editors’ impartial cruise expertise, based on first-hand experiences and industry knowledge, to ultimately help travellers select the best cruise choice for them from an increasing number of options.

According to CMV Australia’s National Sales Manager, Darren Chigwidden, “Solo travel has continued to be a rapidly growing market segment for both domestic and international travel, so we are pleased to be able to offer our agent partners a compelling and affordable option to present to their clients.”
