Today, national cycling safety charity, the Amy Gillett Foundation, hosts the inaugural Virtual Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo on cycling gaming platform, Zwift. Over 350 cyclists will race across three distances, 107km, 55km and 10km from 9AM AEST.

Matthew Keenan, renowned Australian sports commentator and the ‘voice of cycling’, will interview a range of guests including the Victorian Minister for Road Safety, the Hon. Ben Carroll MP over a livestream of the 107km race broadcast on streaming site, Twitch.

The second hour of racing will be hosted by Telstra Connected Cycling featuring guest commentary from Olympic Swimmer Duncan Armstrong OAM, and Telstra’s Sandy Woolley and Dy Hannan. Federal MP, the Hon. Dave Sharma will zoom in for an interview about the newly formed Parliamentary Friends of Cycling Group. Cycling legend and patron of the Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF), Phil Anderson will zoom in for an interview as well as Amy Gillett’s mum, Mary Safe.

Annually, Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo raises much-needed fundraising for the work of the Amy Gillett Foundation. Today, donations will be matched by a generous donor (up to $63,000), which will help the AGF reach the fundraising target of $150,000. Fundraising will help save cyclists’ lives by supporting the research, education and advocacy of the Amy Gillett Foundation.

Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo is Australia’s premier cycling event and was established as a legacy to Amy Gillett. Over nine years, this event has grown to become a crucial awareness-raising event for cyclist safety.
