Following a record year in 2019, luxury hotel barge cruising specialist European Waterways is looking to continue its success into 2020 by offering up to 20% off on cabin and charter prices on select cruises in France, Italy and Scotland.

It’s a unique opportunity for travellers to enjoy the world-renowned wines featured in its French and Italian cruises, as well as the famed Scottish whiskies enjoyed by guests aboard its hotel barges in the Scottish Highlands. The specials are applicable to select departures and represent savings of up to €14,600 (approximately AU$23,800) per charter and €2,756 (approximately AU$4,495) per cabin, based on double occupancy.  They are available when booked by 17 February 2020.

Fourteen European Waterways vessels are participating in the special offer. Among them is the 8-passenger Rosa, which cruises Gascony and Bordeaux; the 8-passenger L’Art de Vivre on the Lower Nivernais Canal and the River Yonne in Burgundy, France; and the 8-passenger Scottish Highlander, which cruises the Caledonian Canal in the Scottish Highlands.

Cruising the canals of Gascony and Bordeaux in southwest France, Rosa offers exclusive excursions such as private wine tastings at the prestigious Château Bellevue la Fôret winery. For the 2020 season, guests will also enjoy an exclusive ‘Tea with a Countess’ at the 18th century Château de la Motte that includes a view of her private couture collectionThey will also visit Moissac Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With 20% off, Rosa can be chartered for €27,040 (approximately AU$44,100) on select departures, a saving of €6,760 (approximately AU$11,050); cabins start at €3,112 (approximately AU$5,075) per person, based on double occupancy, representing a saving of €778 (approximately AU$1,270).

European Waterways’ L’Art de Vivre carries up to eight passengers in complete luxury and comfort as it cruises the Lower Nivernais Canal and the River Yonne in Burgundy. Among its exclusive offerings is a private tasting of Chablis and Petit Chablis at the prestigious Domaine Laroche, one of the largest landholders of Grand Cru vineyards. This is followed by a gastronomic private lunch in the domaine’s dining hall. Other excursions include a visit to the pilgrimage town of Vézelay with its hilltop basilica, and the elegant 12th century Château de Bazoches. With 20% off charters on select departures, prices start at €23,600 (approximately AU$38,480), a saving of €5,900 (approximately AU$9,650); cabins start at €3,720 (approximately AU$6,070) per person, based on double occupancy, a saving of €930 (approximately AU$1,515) per person off the regular price.

European Waterways’ Scottish Highlander’s rich wood panelling, tartan-themed decor and large picture windows offer the perfect setting for taking in the expansive natural beauty of the majestic Scottish Highlands. Various excursions highlight historic sites such as Eilean Donan and Urquhart castles. They include a visit to Glencoe, the scene of the bloody massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692.  More notably, guests are treated to a private tasting of some of Scotland’s finest Scotch on a tour of the award-winning Tomatin whisky distillery. The Scottish Highlander is offering 10% off on select departures, with charters starting at €26,550 (approximately AU$43,285), a saving of €2,950 (approximately AU$4,810) off the starting price. Cabins start at €4,095 (approximately AU$6,680) per person, based on double occupancy, representing a €455 (approximately AU$750) saving.
