Summer holidays, travel time: the number of air passengers over the last month has remained almost constant. A total of 3,358,626 passengers flew to and from Berlin in July – 0.3 percent more passengers compared to the same month last year, the provisional figures in the July traffic report show. Tegel airport had to handle a larger demand than Schönefeld airport – in Tegel, 2,255,967 passengers took off and landed in July, 5.5 percent more than in last July, while there were 1,102,650 passengers in Schönefeld, which is 8.9 percent less than in July 2018. The lower numbers from Schönefeld are due to airlines having moved routes from Schönefeld to Tegel, amongst other things.

For the first seven months of 2019, Tegel and Schönefeld airports processed 9.9 percent more passengers in total in comparison with the same time last year. In Tegel, 14,047,921 passengers (21.5 percent more) took off and landed, while in Schönefeld there were 6,765,624 passengers and therefore 8.4 percent less passengers than in the same period of last year. For the first seven months of 2019, 25,684 airplanes in total took off and landed from both airports, which is 5.1 percent less than in the same period last year. In Tegel, there were 17,038 take-offs and landings (0.5 percent less), and in Schönefeld there were 8,646 take-offs and landings (12.9 percent less)
