Spread the love

Those looking to take their trip beyond the bush and to the heart of local communities are invited to join the Arbor Month celebrations at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve this September.

Along with the camp’s charitable arm, Pride ‘n Purpose, Ulusaba will be supporting Arbor Month’s mission to build sustainable settlements through gifting indigenous trees to low-income communities. Trees are valuable tools which supply the basic elements of life: oxygen, water vapour, food, shelter and fuel, as well as offsetting carbon emissions which contribute to global warming.

Over the years, more than 1700 fruit trees and indigenous trees have been planted in the communities. This year, Ulusaba will have two days dedicated to tree planting with the aim of planting 30 trees in total. The group of volunteers will also be getting stuck in and helping with maintenance work and painting murals.

Safari-goers looking to make a lasting difference can join a tour at any time to the local village of Dumphries, where they can roll up their sleeves to personally plant a tree for ZAR500, or one can be planted on their behalf for ZAR250.

Planting a tree is a wonderful way to keep the memories of Ulusaba alive, and the team will share regular growth updates and news from the local community long after the plane home has departed.
