Gold Coast conference and hotel facility Mantra at Sharks & Events Centre has launched new sustainability packages designed to answer the on-going question of how conference organisers achieve health and nutrition while conferencing.

Traditionally, conferences are an unnatural situation. Conference delegates are usually sitting for hours on end in an uncomfortable, non-ergonomic chair and subject to meeting for an entire day in a climate-controlled, window-less space that utilises recirculated-air.

Delegates are then served processed food. A typical offering could consist of up to 50% sugar – pastries, which are heavy in sugar and possibly yoghurt (again, more sugar!). Lunch is usually no better.

This leaves delegates in a fatigue state, with a lack of real energising food and vitamin D. To top it off, there is no designated exercise time incorporated within the event.

Mantra at Sharks and Events Centre is seeking to change the conferencing landscape.

The Sustain. Health. Knowledge package, launched in December 2019, offers an array of features designed with a focus on delegates as people who need fresh air, movement and quality food, and includes:

  • On Demand Barista Coffee Service
  • Refreshing morning tea and afternoon tea with the unique Ray of Light lunch
    • Served outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air on picnic blankets on the Village Green in environmental bento boxes
    • 5 min shoulder massages
    • Personal Movement Screen Test
  • After lunch 10minute revitalisation session
  • Complimentary meeting room set to your specifications
  • Environmentally friendly conference amenities, pencils, sharpeners, recycled paper note pads.
  • Green Apple per delegate and detox water on tables with glassware

The on-site Fitness Centre contributes to the package with friendly and experienced personal trainers able to conduct a personal movement screen test for delegates, showing their spine alignment. Trainers will demonstrate ways to improve posture and balance, provide a five-minute shoulder massage, and a 10-minute after lunch revitalisation session.

General Manager of Sales and Events, Kristie Powell said the new healthy meeting experience was designed to ensure delegates get the most out of their conferencing.

“The Sustain. Health. Knowledge experience is designed to provide nutritionally balanced meals at each break, allowing delegates to engage in the fresh air and sunshine. This ensures delegates revitalise the mind and body during lunch and connect with nature. Overall, the aim is to provide delegates with a personal benefit while conferencing, and for the organiser to deliver their message to an engaged audience”

Lisa Vegter, Southport Sharks Health & Fitness Centre Manager adds “Our personal trainers ensure delegates receive insights on their posture and how to better manage spinal alignment for increased functionality”.

To launch the program, Mantra at Sharks and Events Centre has a special offer for residential conferences.
