A man dressed as the fairy Tinker Bell, in a green dress with wings, has been removed from an international flight after allegedly disruptive behaviour.

The plane was about to take off from London’s Stansted Airport for Krakow, Poland, when a frilly green fairy and his companion allegedly caused a fuss. It has been suggested the two men may have been drinking before boarding.

Reports from the UK describe police arriving and escorting the pair, including one dressed as Tinker Bell, off the Ryanair flight shortly before takeoff.

Essex Police said officers were called after “two men had become disruptive on a plane”. When spoken to “they were co-operative on being asked to leave the aircraft” so weren’t arrested.

He probably didn’t look quite like this!

Ryanair, which has been pressing for curbs on alcohol sales at airports (including a two-drink limit per passenger) said the incident involving Tinker Bell was a good example of why the new restrictions were necessary.

Tinker Bell is the fairy from J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play Peter Pan and its 1911 novelisation Peter and Wendy. As depicted in Disney media, Tinker Bell has become a well-known icon.

Incidentally, Barrie invented the name Wendy for Peter Pan’s friend. Before Barrie thought it up in 1904, the name Wendy didn’t exist.
