Named after the late Thomas E. Prior to joining the resort, Mr. Chang served as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis and also General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay, a luxury residential property that included whole ownership and fractional-ownership homes. His hospitality experience in the Hawaiian Islands also includes leadership positions at other luxury resort properties.

An active leader in the community, Mr. Chang is a past Board Member, Chair and Vice Chair of the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) and has served on the board of the Hawaiʻi Tourism & Lodging Association (HTLA) and the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association. During his full tenure in Hawaiʻi, chair and board member positions also included Kauaʻi Visitors Bureau and Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau, Kauaʻi High School’s Academy of Travel & Tourism, Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association (NaHHA) and various business councils throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

He was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu, and attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where he studied international business.

“Mr. Chang is an esteemed and exceptional leader with deep-rooted ties to his community who inspires his entire team of Ladies and Gentlemen to deliver our brand’s legendary service every day,” said Mr. Bob Kharazmi, Area Vice President, Hawaii, French Polynesia & Luxury Brand Consultant for Marriott International. “On behalf of our Marriott Luxury Brands, we congratulate him on this well-deserved honor and recognition and we look forward to him delivering continued results for our company.”
