Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, is set to celebrate Global Wellness Day on Saturday 13 June 2020 by hosting a weekend of health-focused activities at Dusit Thani Hua Hin and Dusit Thani Pattaya hotels, as well as a day of wellness workshops at Baan Dusit Thani, the company’s first standalone restaurant concept, in Bangkok.

First celebrated in 2012, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as a social project dedicated to living well, and has now been accepted worldwide. Reflecting its success, last year the event was celebrated simultaneously in more than 150 countries at 8,000 different locations.

Highlighting Dusit’s holistic approach to wellness, Dusit’s events will be arranged based on Global Wellness Day’s seven-step manifest for healthy, sustainable living, which includes: 1) Walk for an hour each day, 2) Drink more water, 3) Don’t use plastic bottles, 4) Eat healthy food, 5) Do a good deed, 6) Have a dinner with your loved ones, and 7) Sleep at 10pm.

At Dusit Thani Hua Hin and Dusit Thani Pattaya, guests and customers will be able to join evening walks with the general managers, enjoy aerobic and yoga sessions, discover how to cook healthy dishes, and learn how to boost their physical and mental well-being in talks given by doctors from Bumrungrad International Hospital’s VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center. Each hotel will also have a ‘Pantry of Sharing’ where guests can donate necessities for people in need.

At Baan Dusit Thani, the event will be held for one day only, on Saturday 13 June 2020 from 3pm onwards. It will feature expert-led talks about the importance of wellness and nutrition, a meditative ‘sound bath’ experience, and other health-focused activities. Visitors will also be able to sample healthy wraps and juices from Kauai, a popular healthy fast-casual restaurant concept from South Africa, which Dusit has brought to Thailand as part of a joint venture.

Dusit’s Global Wellness Day activities are being orchestrated by the company’s new Corporate Director of Wellness, Mr Paul Hawco, who joined the company in May this year bringing with him more than 19 years of experience working for renowned luxury brands such as Rosewood, Jumeirah and Fairmont across North America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia.

“Global Wellness Day gives us all an opportunity to pause, think, and recognise the value of our lives and the importance of healthy living,” said Mr Hawco. “In line with Dusit’s commitment to benefiting our broader communities, our events will serve as platforms for raising awareness about living well, and equip participants with the knowledge they need to boost their well-being and immune systems, which is especially important following the global pandemic.”

To ensure the well-being and safety of guests, each of Dusit’s properties has enhanced its already stringent health and safety practices, which includes frequent sanitisation of all rooms and public areas, to include temperature scans on arrival, provision of appropriate space in restaurants, and other protective measures.
