On Monday 15th April, the Easter holidays begin in Berlin and Brandenburg. This will increase the volume of passengers at the Berlin airports Schönefeld and Tegel from as early as Friday (12th April). Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) anticipates more than 2,200 flights carrying 240,000 passengers alone on the first holiday weekend (12th-14th April). The peak of the Easter travel wave is the long weekend from 19th to 22nd April, with up to 400,000 passengers. The airport company expects more than 1.3 million passengers during the two holiday weekends – this is about 20 percent more than the previous year, with 1.1 million air travellers.

Due to the significantly increased traffic during the Easter holidays, FBB passengers are advised to inform themselves about their flight status with their airline either online or by telephone prior to travel. Passengers should also take advantage of free online check-in offered by many airlines.

FBB asks passengers to be at Schönefeld or Tegel airport at least two hours before departure. After arriving, passengers should go through security controls as soon as possible.

Increased check-in capacity with automated baggage handling
Since March, easyJet passengers in Schönefeld can check in their luggage independently. For this, self-service kiosks and automatic baggage check-in were installed.
