Sad news that Emirates is pulling out of the Adelaide market – particularly for gold card members like myself. Perhaps Qatar, Cathay or SQ will offer me the same status. Emirates gives economy pax better food and a vastly better entertainment system – plus the chance to stay in Dubai, one of the most exciting new cities in the world. Qatar is ok in economy, the entertainment system is a 5/10 – and the food serves on the lean side. Business class on the other hard is a clear winner – eat when you like, close your door and get privacy when you like. Superb really. I imagine this will prove a real boost for Qatar and Singapore Airlines if travel lifts off again. Unfortunately for Cathay, we now have the worry of draconian national security laws in Hong Kong. New measures include a magistrates court with the power to try defendants without a jury. Scary stuff really.
