Emporium Hotel South Bank is proud to announce that Assistant Concierge, Quintin McLeod, has been appointed as Australia’s newest member of the prestigious International Concierge Society, Les Clefs d’Or (The Golden Keys).  The appointment positions Emporium Hotel South Bank as the only property in Queensland with two team members honored with this title, the other being Chief Concierge Graham Hodgson, further demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to service.

General Manager of Emporium Hotel South Bank Peter Savoff, who is also an honorary member of Les Clefs d’Or said,

“We are very lucky to have Quintin as part of our Concierge Team.  This is no small achievement by Quintin and we are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that was necessary to receive the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or (The Golden Keys).  Quintin has prepared for over two years to meet the exacting standards set by the selection committee, who conducted their final interview with him in Melbourne last month.  We are very proud to be the only hotel in Queensland with two members who have achieved this honour.”

With roots dating back to 1929, Les Clefs d’Or was officially founded in France in 1952 and is based on two pillars: service and friendship.  Today, the elite concierge organisation has over 4,000 members world-wide, with only 52 of those members based in Australia.  Members are awarded with iconic gold crossed keys, an honour which is reserved for a select number of outstanding service professionals who continually demonstrate the highest level of care for their guests and who are committed to driving new standards for service perfection.

Recognised by travellers around the world, the distinctive gold crossed keys are worn on the lapels of Les Clefs d’Or members, identifying the bearer as a true professional in their chosen career.  Each member of Les Clefs d’Or strives to consistently provide the most caring, attentive service to their guests and to work in a manner representative of Les Clefs d’Or’s motto, “In Service through Friendship.”

Quintin has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, first starting his career in his parent’s mobile food van.  Following a number of roles in hospitality, Quintin recognised his calling as a concierge, working at number of five star establishments including The Sebel & Citigate Hotel and Capri by Fraser, where he was concierge, and The Stamford Plaza Brisbane where he was Chief Concierge.  Having worked on his application for Clefs d’Or for almost five years, Quintin has passed comprehensive testing to prove, beyond doubt, his ability to deliver the highest quality of service to his guests.

“Becoming a Les Clefs d’Or Concierge is definitely the highlight of my career so far.  A superior concierge must know everything about his or her city and must be extremely personable as a good concierge is a one stop tourist shop.  My goal now is to become the best I can be at Emporium Hotel South Bank and to work with the Queensland members of Les Clefs d’Or to try to get the Asia Pacific Congress to Brisbane, if not the World Congress,” said McLeod.

In order to gain membership to the society, a concierge must be employed by a hotel of excellent standing and have at least five years’ experience in hospitality, three of which must be as chief concierge or as an assistant to a chief concierge who is already a member.  Letters of reference must also be provided, plus introductions from at least two members of the society and a formal interview.

“It is a great honour for our Emporium Hotel to add another Les Clefs d’Or member to its ranks, and we congratulate Quintin wholeheartedly on his international recognition as a leading, world-class Concierge” concluded Savoff.
