SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast “A-scare-ium” is encouraging kids to enjoy an eco-friendly Halloween with a Creepy Clean Up, ‘how to’ videos and free entry for costumed kids!

Kids can join the virtual Creepy Clean Up on Saturday 31 October by dressing up in a Halloween costume and venturing out to pick up rubbish in their local area. Kids are encouraged to be COVID-safe by wearing gloves and washing their hands thoroughly. After cleaning up, kids can upload a photo of themselves in the Facebook event with the rubbish they’ve collected for the chance to win a Family Pass to SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast!

During the month of October, the aquarium is also sharing ‘how to’ videos online to encourage kids to celebrate Halloween sustainably. Watch the videos for tips and tricks on up-cycling costumes, making plastic-free treats and carving pumpkins.

“Here at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast we are passionate about ocean conservation and the protection of marine creatures, but we also love to have fun! Our Halloween activities are designed to inspire kids to find and make eco-friendly Halloween costumes, treats and decorations and to safely pick up rubbish so we can limit the amount of plastic and debris ending in our oceans and having harmful effects on marine life,” said Chloe Zatta, Aquarist at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

The Halloween festivities don’t end there! On Saturday 31 October, SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is also offering free entry for kids who visit the aquarium dressed in their Halloween costume! Kids disguised as witches, ghosts, skeletons and other creepy creatures are welcome to wander the aquarium and get up close with sharks, lionfish, jellyfish and more weird and wonderful aquatic animals.
