What do you do when an angry bull elephant, trumpeting and ears flapping, comes straight at your safari truck? The clip below shows what happened in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

The brief, 40-second clip opens with someone exclaiming “f***ing hell!” as the elephant appears, looking menacing. The animal then moves forward, with the driver accelerating and weaving in a bid to out-manoeuvre it.

The elephant comes straight at the truck.

“Hang on guys!” someone shouts.

“Just be calm!”

It’s hard to remain calm when you are being charged by an elephant – but note the woman immediately in front of the camera, filming with her phone, utterly unperturbed. The same probably goes for the person who shot the clip.

The truckload of passengers, reportedly Australian and sounding like it, holds onto the back of the seats as the vehicle rocks.

“Heads, heads…” the driver calls – reminding passengers to hang on tight and watch out for their heads. (An elephant’s tusks can do a lot of damage; they can seriously spoil a holiday.)

But all was well – no injuries; just an amazing experience.

There’s nothing like Africa!
