The hotel industry will continue to remain cautious and focus on sustainability in 2021. Data from eRevMax’s Hotel Sentiment Survey indicates the depth of the impact of Covid-19 as hoteliers continue to face new challenges due to this period of uncertainty. The online survey, conducted in December 2020, highlights varying levels of business confidence among hoteliers worldwide.

While regions like Middle East are starting to see a strong travel rebound, western markets in Europe and Americas are far from normalcy. With the spread of the new Covid-19 strain and fresh lockdowns in certain parts of the world, the travel sector continues to remain unpredictable, with hoteliers focusing on staying resilient and putting together missing pieces in their online distribution and technology puzzle, while optimizing costs.

This Survey highlights how the business confidence and expectations of hoteliers have direct correlation with the economic outlook and handling of the pandemic across regions. The responses received in the survey suggest that hoteliers are  prioritizing distribution technology including channel management, booking engine and reservation solutions even as there is a definite shift to smart contactless solutions. The current focus is demand generation and we expect there will be a greater shift towards open API based solutions,” said Udai Singh Solanki, Co-CEO & CTO, eRevMax.

With almost non-existent foreign tourist arrivals, 75% hotel respondents believe that domestic tourism will play a vital role in rebuilding of economies as travellers prefer staycations and regional travel, while all other segments of tourism — MICE, corporate and foreign travel will continue to underperform over the next few months.

As a leader in hotel distribution technology, providing seamless connectivity, booking engine and business intelligence solutions, eRevMax continues to monitor travel sentiment and booking trends globally to assist hotels in rebuilding their distribution strategies.
