Craving the warmer weather and the long days of the summer months? Singapore offers a tropical escape from the Aussie winter, just a short 5-hour flight from Perth, or an 7-8-hour flight from Sydney and Melbourne. Not only can you enjoy the warmer climate, Singapore is a city that comes alive ‘after dark’, offering an array of distinctive and diverse experiences whether it’s live music, nightlife, dining or shopping. Aussies can be sure to make the most of a shorter trip!

We’ve compiled the ideal long weekend itinerary for Aussie travellers to experience the best Singapore has to offer.

DAY 1: FRIDAY – ARRIVE SINGAPORE

Evening: Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is an iconic ‘only in Singapore’ attraction set over 101 hectares. Located in the heart of the city, the awe-inspiring space includes the Supertree Grove and two enclosed domes. Be sure to catch the free Garden Rhapsody Sound & Light Show each night at 7.45pm or 8.45pm.

Dinner: CHIJMES
Home to an array of shops, bars and restaurants, CHIJMES used to be a Catholic convent and school from 1854 right up to the 1908s. Enjoy a delicious late dinner at Coriander Leaf (contemporary Asian) or have a truly Singaporean experience at New Ubin Seafood (NEW!).

Nightcap: 28 HongKong St
One of Singapore’s most famous bars (and a proud member of the World’s 50 Best Bar list), 28 Hong Kong St knocks out some seriously amazing cocktails and legendary mac ‘n’ cheese balls!

DAY 2: SATURDAY

Brunch: Mandarin Gallery
Visit Mandarin Gallery (a 12,000-square foot shopping duplex) and start with a delicious brunch at Wild Honey, where the mouth-watering menu is inspired by signature breakfasts from all around the world. All time favourites include the European, Canadian and Sweet Morning. Then walk off the calories by checking out local Singaporean labels including Beyond the Vines, K.BLU Swim and Choo Yilin Jewellery.

Afternoon: Neighbourhood Hopping
Little India is a buzzing historic area that shows off the best of Singapore’s Indian heritage. Here you can try on colourful saris, visit the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and get great bargains from the mega 24-hour shopping paradise, Mustafa Centre. The Indian Heritage Centre gives a great insight into Singapore’s Indian heritage roots.

Chill out along Haji Lane, a buzzing alley tucked away in Kampong Glam and enjoy a cold Tiger Beer at Blu Jaz Cafe. This Kampong Glam mainstay hosts everything from live music performances to DJ nights, pop up cinema and comedy shows.

Evening: Night Safari
Hop on over to the Night Safari. Located right next door to the Singapore Zoo, this safari park for nocturnal animals (a world’s first, by the way) is best seen on wheels. Get on-board the tram for a 40-minute up-close journey with lions, tigers, tapirs, deers and more. Singapore Zoo has also just launched its Rainforest Lumina attraction to celebrate its 45th anniversary – a 1km trail featuring interactive light and sound installations showcasing animals such as orangutans, pangolins and flying foxes.

DAY 3: SUNDAY

Brunch: P.S. Cafe
Tucked away in the verdant serenity of Dempsey, PS. Café offers the best in flavour and experience. Enjoy a delectable brunch and its peaceful bungalow interior. This popular local favourite has made a name for itself with its culinary repertoire and beautiful surroundings. Other popular PS. Cafe locations include One Fullerton, Raffles City and Tiong Bahru.

Afternoon: Tanjong Beach Club
The quieter beach on the island is Tanjong Beach, where you’ll find white sand, serene waves and Tanjong Beach Club (the place to be for fancy cocktails, live music and delicious food). Hint: bring swimmers!

Evening: Overnight flight back to Australia
