Etihad Airways celebrated its 10th anniversary with Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer programme yesterday evening with an exclusive event at the Sydney Opera House’s Yallamundi Rooms, coupled with the announcement of a series of exciting offers including a major Bonus Points promotion, followed by a One Million Points giveaway and a rolling program of rewards throughout 2020.

Set within the stunning sails of the iconic Sydney Opera House, a venue which Etihad supports as a key corporate partner, the 10th anniversary event saw 133 highly valued Etihad Guest and Velocity members, and industry partners come together to enjoy the very best of Arabian hospitality, while learning more about the longstanding alliance and its future.

Sydney Opera House CEO, Louise Herron AM, hosted an intimate discussion with Chief Commercial Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, Robin Kamark and Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO, Karl Schuster, where the pair reflected on the success of the strategic partnership, which has benefited travellers since 2010 by providing access to an expanded global network and increased loyalty rewards through the reciprocal frequent flyer programs.

Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, said, “The 10th anniversary of our work with Velocity Frequent Flyer is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the success of our alliance while also giving back to travellers. Alongside two major promotions this side of the year, we will be working to surprise and delight Etihad Guest and Velocity members throughout 2020 with a raft of promotions and offers that will reinforce the strength and benefits of our partnership.”

Karl Schuster, Chief Executive Officer of Velocity Frequent Flyer, said, “Our remarkable relationship with Etihad continues to provide easy, everyday ways for travellers to earn Velocity Points, while offering a competitive and advantageous program for millions of customers who choose Etihad Guest.”

To kick-start the milestone campaign, Etihad Guest members who book flights departing from anywhere across Australia and New Zealand onto Abu Dhabi or across the Etihad network will be rewarded with enough bonus points to fly domestically with Virgin Australia. The promotion is valid now until 22 October for travel until 31 March 2020, passengers selecting to fly Economy will be given 7,800 bonus points, while Business travellers will be offered 15,500 bonus points – enough for each to travel return in Economy and Business respectively on a domestic ticket.

The celebrations will continue with an exclusive One Million Points giveaway from Etihad to lucky Velocity members.
