The eighth edition of the European Association Summit (EAS) took place in Brussels.Nearly 200 experts exchanged experiences in the fields of strategy, communication, events and international association management.
Nearly 200 representatives of international associations gathered yesterday and today at the Square – Brussels Convention Centre in the centre of Brussels. They discussed opportunities for collaboration and the challenges ahead. During the summit, EAS participants had the opportunity to strengthen their ties and exchange with their peers in the world’s capital of international associations.
Brussels a knowledge capital for associations
This year’s conference brought together experts in various fields such as internal organisation, leadership and communication management. Most of them came from associations but also from the association services sector.
The speakers at this edition came from a wide range of sectors, from the world of brewing to
the digital technology sector. The field of law was also present to bring participants their expertise in a number of areas: boards of directors, competition rules and regulations on international associations.
“International associations are a real source of inspiration. They create strong links between
all sectors of society. Their expertise in organisation, crisis management or even in the field
of medicine is a real added value. All this knowledge is present in Brussels and enables us to
meet the challenges of tomorrow”, said Elisabeth Van Ingelgem, Director of the visit.brussels

Brussels is home to the largest number of international associations in the world, with more
than 2,300 international associations founded on its territory. In addition to the employment
and cultural diversity, this large concentration of associations makes Brussels a fertile breeding ground for knowledge and the exchange of ideas. It is a shining example worldwide.
The EAS is an event organised by the visit.brussels Association Bureau, in close collaboration
with major partners in the sector: ESAE (European Society of Association Executives), FAIB (Federation of European & International Associations Based in Belgium), UIA (Union of International Associations) and GAHP (Global Association Hubs Partnership), along with Solvay Brussels School – Economics & Management, AMCI (Association Management Companies Institute) and the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association).
