With European nations easing travel restrictions now and Australia possibly looking likely easing theirs in the first quarter of 2021, now is the time for Australians to take advantage of the 10% discount on European Waterways’ private charter hires for April and May 2021.

Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways, noted that whole boat charters, which already account for more than 50% of its business, are proving even more popular as travelers seek out their own private space and less crowded destinations in the age of social distancing. European Waterways’ charters are available throughout France, the England, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy.

“Most European Waterways hotel barges accommodate just six to twelve passengers, making them ideal for families, friends and small groups to reconnect safely, with a boat all to themselves,” Banks observed.  “Guests cruise ‘the paths less traveled’ in utmost safety and comfort with a 1:2 crew/guest ratio, away from the crowded cities and tourist ‘hotspots.’ They enjoy gourmet dining onboard, private and often exclusive daily excursions, and diverse activities – all while savoring the clean, fresh air and unspoiled views of the European countryside.”

“We look forward to welcoming back our many repeat clients as well introducing new guests to the joys of luxury hotel barging,” said Banks. “They can be assured of a memorable vacation experience that includes the finest cuisine, world-renowned wines, and exclusive private tours tailored to avoid the crowds. Since we cruise the canals and smaller waterways just a few feet from shore, our guests never have to worry about feeling ‘lost at sea!’”

All in the Family

Perfect for a private family cruise, the oldest hotel barge in its fleet, European Waterways’ eight-passenger L’Art de Vivre, served as a supply vessel to the Allied troops during World War One.  Today it cruises the Canal du Nivernais in Burgundy, with an interior décor that reflects her British roots.

Family charters regularly include a variety of sports, such as tennis, ice-skating and mini-golf.  Guests can also book kayaking, quad biking and horseback riding. Other options for family-friendly excursions include a visit to the Caves of Arcy-sur-Cure, which features some of the oldest cave paintings in the world, a medieval castle under construction using traditional methods at the Chateau Guedelon and a closer  look at the age of the dinosaurs in Cardo Land.
