Western Australia plays host to an incredible range of world-class cultural, sporting and culinary events, allowing visitors to experience the State’s natural beauty, state-of-the-art venues and diverse culture in unique and unforgettable ways.

Below is a snapshot of some of the events that will be held across the State between January and June 2018 (please find a more detailed event listing in the attachments).

ATP Cup – Perth’s RAC Arena, January 3 to 8

Current world number one and 19-time grand slam winner Rafael Nadal will visit Perth for the first time when he represents Spain at the inaugural Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Cup. Nadal will be joined by five of the world’s current top male tennis players, including US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev from Russia, and Japan’s Kei Nishikori. With six days of incredible tennis launching the global tennis season for men, the ATP Cup is one of the most highly anticipated events in world tennis. FRINGE WORLD Festival – Perth, January 16 to February 17

One of WA’s most popular festivals, FRINGE WORLD, is set to deliver the ultimate summer festival experience. Now the third largest Fringe festival in the world, the jam-packed program of over 700 events held across more than 150 venues, will see a line-up of comedy, circus, free and family entertainment, theatre, visual arts, musicals, dance and cabaret presented by local, national and international artists. Highlights from the program include the international music sensation, The Choir of Man and the award-winning arthouse circus, Casting Off. Returning favourites include Feugo Carnal, WA homegrown heroes YUCK Circus, and the chilling hit SÉANCE returns with another new experience, FLIGHT. Perth Festival – Perth, February 7 to March 1  

WA’s premier cultural and arts event Perth Festival delivers a feast of cutting-edge performances and activities for all ages. Experience some of the best local, national, international acts expanding across contemporary theatre, dance, music, film, visual arts and literature. Festival highlights for the 2020 program include Bungul – celebrating the music of Gurrumul and Yolgnu culture; beloved musical Bran Nue Dae; acclaimed circus ensemble Circa’s new show Leviathan; Beethoven’s only opera Fidelio; Tim Winton’s Australian classic Cloudstreet; and the festivals penultimate event, Highway to Hell – a celebration of Australian rock band AC/DC and Perth’s connection to the band’s original front man, the late Bon Scott. The pinnacle event will see artists perform AC/DC covers on the back of flatbed trucks while travelling along Canning Highway, set to become the world’s longest stage. Perth Festival will welcome a new precinct for the 2020 event – the City of Lights at the iconic Perth Concert Hall. perthfestival.com.au

NRL Nines – Perth’s HBF Park, February 14 and 15

The National Rugby League (NRL) Nines is an exciting two-day festival-style tournament of rugby league. Held at HBF Park, it will be the first time the Nines will be played in Australia, with all 16 of the men’s and four of the women’s NRL clubs coming to Perth for the event. The clubs will have its top stars on show, including one of the top six players and 12 of the top 30 players (as determined by the salary cap), including players from 2019 NRL grand finalist teams, the Sydney Roosters and Canberra Raiders. Top players from NRLW Premiers, the Brisbane Broncos, will also come to Perth to compete. ICC Women’s T20 World Cup – Perth, February 22 to 24

The ICC T20 Women’s World Cup is coming to Perth in 2020. Nine of the top 10 women’s teams – Australia, West Indies, Thailand, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, South Africa India and Bangladesh – will compete at the iconic Western Australian Cricket Associate (WACA) Ground, playing five matches over three consecutive days, and starting and finishing with a double header – creating the ultimate festival of cricket experience. t20worldcup.com

Sculpture by the Sea – Perth, March 6 to 23

One of Perth’s largest free public events, Sculpture by the Sea sees Cottesloe Beach transform into a spectacular sculpture park with more than 70 works on display from artists across Australia and the world. As Perth’s largest free public event, exhibits from some of the world’s top sculptors are displayed against a backdrop of one of the city’s most popular beaches. sculpturebythesea.com

Margaret River Pro – Margaret River, April 22 to May 2

The top 34 ranked male and top 17 ranked female surfers in the world will descend upon the Margaret River region to surf its world-class waves at the 2020 Margaret River Pro. The event will see thousands of spectators flock to the region’s best breaks to watch the world’s elite surfers take on the famous waves. The Margaret River Pro has been awarded World Championship Tour status as it offers some of the best surfing conditions in the world. worldsurfleague.com

Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster – Kununurra, May 15 to 24

Experience the magic of the Kimberley when the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster returns to WA’s North West from May 15 to 24, 2020. Indigenous singer-songwriter, and one of Australia’s most successful female artists, Jessica Mauboy, will headline the Muster’s pinnacle event – the Aviar Helispirit Kimberley Moon Experience on May 16, alongside former Noiseworks and INXS lead singer Jon Stevens, award-winning duo Busby Marou and Indigenous singer-songwriter Emily Wurramarra. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 10-day festival will take over Kununurra and surrounds with a wide variety of unique experiences, including Comedy in the Park hosted by Harley Breen, Aboriginal culture and dance, food events, wellness sessions, popular talent quest Muster Idol, a country rodeo and fireworks. There will also be a special event to commemorate the anniversary celebrations, and a new Ord Valley Muster Closing Night Party on May 24. Truffle Kerfuffle – Manjimup, June 21 to 23

The annual Truffle Kerfuffle is a weekend-long celebration of Manjimup’s famous black truffles and the region’s local produce. Held at the beginning of truffle season in WA’s South West, festival goers will enjoy interactive and hands on experiences. Join truffle hunters and their truffle dogs to search for prized truffles, visit the festival village to meet the producers and get a taste of the region, or get a truffle fix at a range of exclusive dining events.
