Wellington are getting ready to welcome New Zealand’s biggest and tastiest food festivalVisa Wellington On A Plate (VWOAP)! And for the first time, they’re taking it out to a new and improved format and extending it to the whole month of August… 31 days, 5 weekends and loads of food-related fun!

Eat, drink and be Welly with us is their annual food festival, as bars and bistros go head to head with food trucks and fine dining to dish up hundreds of food-focused events, creative set menus, burgers, cocktails and exclusive pop ups.

The first 2 weeks are dedicated to Dine Wellington, which sees restaurant menus and festival dishes that hero regional ingredients and producers, which is then followed by two weeks of Garage Project presents Burger Wellington and festival events and Cocktail Wellington.

What’s more…. This year, the festival will welcome over 20 top international and local chefs from all over the world to the shores of Wellington to cook right here in the culinary capital. These names are synonymous with exciting and innovative cuisine, often only available in far-off places, and will be sure to excite both foodies and newbies alike:

Monique Fiso, Hiakai – Traditional hangi not as you know it… Hiakai Hangi sold out in 2018, and so this year a new international team will join Monique around the hangi pit in a celebration of Polynesian culture and culinary traditions passed down through generations. 4 courses of slow-cooked kai, accompanied by Tutu cider, new release, Tohu Whenua wine from Kono, and entertainment will be served up at dusk overlooking Wellington Harbour.
