Andrew Wallace, Federal Member for Fisher, has been thrown in the deep end for his first ever scuba diving experience, where he was surrounded by sharks up to three metres long.

Mr Wallace showed his support for local tourism providers by taking part in SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium’s new Shark Dive Xtreme, a cage-less diving experience where you are guaranteed an underwater encounter with enormous sharks and rays.

Mr Wallace is encouraging people to stay local and play local this year to help support Sunshine Coast businesses as they recover from the effects of 2020.

“It was amazing to be down there in the sharks’ own environment. They are beautiful creatures and it was an absolute privilege. It is so important that Sunshine Coast locals get out and support our region’s businesses at this difficult time. There are incredible places to shop and stay local in Mooloolaba along with fantastic eating experiences at the Wharf, and there’s no better way to top it off than a visit to SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast. So please, support our local businesses this summer, and while you are at it, get online and tell everyone about your great experiences on social media with the hashtag #supportsunshinecoast,” said Mr Wallace.

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s General Manager, Quinn Clarke, is also keen to share the stay local and play local message.

“It was fantastic to welcome Mr Wallace to SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast to experience our thrilling Shark Dive Xtreme experience firsthand and to help spread the word about all of the incredible things people can do to support local businesses. There are many amazing experiences people can have here in Mooloolaba; from eating at great restaurants at The Wharf, to enjoying outdoor activities such as the new Aquaduck Tour, to going on an underwater adventure here at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast. There is plenty of fun to be had in Mooloolaba,” said Quinn Clarke.
