Women in Tourism Melbourne will host its first International Women’s Day event on Friday March 8th at Sofitel on Collins.

Tickets are $75 and include a 2-course lunch with wine.

The event will welcome Karen Bolinger, CEO of Melbourne Convention Bureau, Elizabeth Aitken, Partner & Employment Lawyer, Moray & Agnew Lawyers, and Natalie Simmons, Global General Manager, cievents, for a panel focusing on working together to create a positive work environment for change.

The speakers will discuss their journey to leadership, the obstacles they have faced working in male-dominated industries and the people who mentored them along the way.

Organiser Mary-Jane Devine says, “We are so thrilled to have this incredible panel of women speaking on the day. Karen Bolinger is a very well-known figure in the business events industry and has been at the helm of the Melbourne Convention Bureau during some major changes. Karen is also on the board of the newly formed association, Not In My Workplace, a group of senior executive leaders who have come together to address the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace  Karen was chair of the inaugural summit held on 21st February attended by over 800 people representing 320 businesses.

“Natalie Simmons heads up one of the biggest incentives agencies in Australia and is right across the trends in emerging destinations and luxury. She is the youngest person to ever hold her position in her company, and the only woman which places her in a unique position to comment on both gender and age discrimination.

“Elizabeth Aitken was the youngest person promoted to partnership in the Australian Financial Review 2018 annual legal review. Liz is an award-winning workplace relations lawyer who is passionate about the role of law in supporting positive workforce development and we look forward to hearing Elizabeth’s insights,” Devine.
