Spread the love

When Suzanne Denton floated the idea of an RV Park to the Fraser Coast Regional Council 3 years ago, she was surprised at the positive response.  Research showed that many visitors to the Fraser Coast and in particular those travelling to Fraser Island, needed a place to stay that was close to the Ferry Service.

The property is 75 acres and is just 3 minutes to the Ferry Service so it’s location is perfect.  That coupled with the fact that Big Rigs can be catered for with drive-thru sites and there is also a 40 acre nature reserve, makes Fraser Coast RV Park a perfect destination for practically everyone.

Suzanne left her job as a Caregiver to create a piece of paradise for everyone to enjoy.  The property has been transformed with a solid timber slab authentic pioneering Australian experience.  Mango Lodge has recently been awarded 5 stars by a reviewer for the NDIS and Suzanne said this is a game changer for not just Mango Lodge, but for the entire Fraser Coast Region.

The benefits of catering to all abilities is not just smart business, it’s a positive feeling for all concerned.  We are looking forward to hosting many guests from all walks of life.  The overseas guests have been loving the experience of seeing the mob of kangaroos that live on the property.  The escape from the daily grind and relaxing in the deep open-air claw foot bath complete the experience.

Reconnecting with nature is what the Park offers with the 40 acre nature reserve recently being accredited “Land for Wildlife” status, the first property in 11 years on the Fraser Coast.

Recently the Hervey Bay Bird Watchers came out for morning tea and identified 59 species of birds.

The Park is also pet friendly and the Wallaby Wash House has been voted best shower in Australia by the guests.  The authentic Bush Kitchen completes the picture and because all the sites are well spaced, guests can enjoy a peaceful and tranquil experience, either exploring the nature reserves 4kms of walking trails or bird watching the 62 species that have been identified so far.

There are also scattered fire pits around the property which can be relocated to suit each campers needs.  The fishermen have been enjoying catching a wide variety of species as the property backs onto the Susan River and the boat ramp into the mouth of the Mary River is only 3kms away.

With the finishing touches now complete on Wallaby Wash House with awnings out front and back, the finished product is exactly how I envisaged, Suzanne said.  Since opening in October 2018, we have been working very hard on improvements to the property.

It gives me great pleasure to see the smile of guests faces and the wonderful feedback has been very encouraging.  There have been so many interesting people coming to stay from all over the world, it’s an exciting time and I am looking forward to hosting more guests over the coming Whale Watching season.
