Spread the love

We’ve received the most heartwarming messages over the last week for our takeaway meals and grocery basket service. Our guests – yourselves – from near and afar, interstate and overseas, have been buying these care packs for family and friends hindered by the current lockdown.

We’ve loved reading each and every note – whether it be a surprise gift for a loved one, a much-needed box for those unable to visit the supermarket or grocery store, or those who have simply run out of ideas on what to cook and eat. We understand that things such as these can be a challenge in our current times, and our chefs have been delighted that they have been able to bring such joy and good cheer. They’re currently busy coming up with ideas for more menus and videos that will hopefully help us all in tiding over this phase in our lives.

Hot Cross Scones – 5 days only

And now onto our hot cross scones, which has a bit of a tradition at The Windsor and is usually served this time of year as part of our Afternoon Tea. Some of our staff wait an entire year for these scones to be on the menu!

Our pastry chefs still wanted to make this for everyone, so we’ve added it to our gift shop for 5 days only. We’re selling them in boxes of six, along some with some beautiful lemon curd from Chef Rob Kabboord (Lekker, former Head Chef of Quay, Sydney) and double cream.

Each scone is filled with cinnamon and ginger powder, sultanas and peel, and we’ve had a few pre-orders as surprise gifts already. So send your loved ones a box, get one for yourself, and get together – the virtual way – with some scones, tea, Zoom, FaceTime or House Party. (Please do tag us @hotel_windsor on Instagram if you do so, and #windsormoments. We’d love to partake in this virtually!)
