Spread the love

Kånken Art is what happens when you invite renowned artists to express their relationship to nature with a Kånken as their canvas. For the 2020 edition of Kånken Art, Fjällräven is working with Swedish artist Moa Hoff whose playful expression has created a truly unique pattern that makes Kånken stand out in a crowd. Also in 2020, every piece of Kånken Art sold, will support the Arctic Fox Initiative. The products will be available in Australia from June 1st.

THE ARCTIC FOX INITIATIVE GOES INTO ITS SECOND ROUND
The Arctic Fox Initiative is a way for Fjällräven to create engagement and funding around ideas and projects that put nature first. The first three projects supported by the Arctic Fox Initiative in 2019 are The Beach Clean Network Limited, Leave No Trace and Hej Främling! All three are incredible non-profit organisations, from the UK, USA and Sweden and have now received funding generated from the sales of selected products, especially Kånken Art.

THE KÅNKEN ARTIST 2020: MOA HOFF

Moa Hoff is an illustrator, artist and graphic designer from Stockholm, Sweden. She has been working as a freelance illustrator after graduating from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2005. Moa explains: “I always work by hand – drawing with pencil, painting surfaces and cutting paper. I want to get the sense of the material.” She has been a nature-lover since she was little: “I’ve always loved the forest and as a child growing up close to it, I watched bugs and tadpoles, tasted basil-thyme and spruce shoots, and thought for a long time that trees had their own secret life.”

Her inspiration for the Kånken Art project was a childhood memory of a hike to the mountains with her father: “I remember the light, the crisp colours and small knobbly mountain birches. It was this memory – the birches – and that feeling that I wanted to connect with when I created this pattern.”
