Sydney’s Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) community gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel to celebrate its first graduation (no. 35) and intake (no. 37) for 2020—the 10th year of the not-for-profit’s renowned mentoring program.

“It was another joy-filed night as four brilliant mentees graduated, and we welcomed the next group on its 6-month journey of discovery and development,” said TIME program founder, Penny Spencer.

Alice Ager from Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Nikki Bruce from Inspiring Journeys, Divinity Kefu from Spencer Travel, and Nicola Polglase from American Express Global Business Travel all graduated on the night.

Emceed by recent TIME graduate, the charismatic Timo Lorenzen—Hotel Manager at Veriu Group—the event commenced with a lively ‘How to use Linkedin to get the results you want’ workshop for TIME graduate facilitated by leadership and communication coach, Sandy Colombo.

“Ongoing professional and personal development workshops are one of the many perks that TIME graduates enjoy when they’ve completed their mentoring program,” said Sandy.

The evening’s keynote address was delivered by the brilliant Michelle Allen, Head of Travel at Google. Michelle took the audience on a ride through her career from university, into the travel industry and travel tech before climbing the ladder at Amadeus IT Group in Spain and Australia, and then into the plum role as Head of Travel at Google.

The graduates from TIME program no. 35 each delivered a short speech describing their experiences along the way. Nikki Bruce, Brand Manager at Inspiring Journeys saw confidence come from being challenged.

“The best thing about this whole experience is meeting someone who challenges your weaknesses and makes you consciously aware of them. You learn how they may be holding you back and how you can then move forward,” said Nikki.

Another notable moment was the presentation of an oversized cheque in the amount of $1500 that will cover most of the program’s fees for one participant in intake no. 37. The lucky recipient? Jackie Wright from italktravel Travel & Cruise, Maitland.

These funds were generously raised by TIME Board members Fiona Dalton and Trish Shepherd in 2019.

TIME is calling for expressions of interest for program intake no. 38 commencing on 08 April 2020, and encourages ambitious travel, tourism and hospitality professionals to apply HERE.
