The Sydney Opera House is putting the spotlight on storytime classics these September school holidays with charming, magical and much-loved tales leaping off the pages and onto its famous stages.

From September 29 – October 6, the Helpmann Award-winning Bambert’s Book of Lost Storieswill enchant children and parents alike with the story of an impossibly small man that loves to write. Reinhardt Jung’s internationally lauded novel is brought to life through delicate puppeteering as the lovable and tiny Bambert sets his stories free on miniature balloons. Will anyone return his call?

The perfect show for little ones with big imaginations, The Snow Dragon arrives in the Playhouse from October 3 – 12 in the form of a festive forest filled with fantastic creatures. This toe-tapping musical adventure that will have you humming for weeks after, follows Billy the goat on a New Year’s Eve adventure as he awaits the annual visit from the legendary Snow Dragon.

Bambert’s Book of Lost Stories

Retelling the story of the famous cow who jumped over the moon, Yo Diddle Diddle is a hilarious  hip-hop infused adventure that explores resilience, determination and the power of friendship.  Families can bust a mooo-ve with this guaranteed crowd pleaser in the Studio from October 10 – 14.

Made for children by children, the September school holidays Creative Play installation has been handed to the students of Lansvale Public School, who will work alongside artist Howard Mathew to create a magical South East Asian-inspired bazaar. Kids and families will be transported back in time as they’re encouraged to create knick knacks that they can put on display for the rest of the school holidays.

Snow Dragon

Future dancing, singing and acting stars can peek beneath the world-famous sails of the Sydney Opera House on the one-hour Junior Adventure Tour. Curious kids will learn astounding facts and stories about Australia’s most famous building, with interactive games and costume dress-ups. For those with grumbling tummies and a hunger for more, the Junior Day Pack is the ultimate day out with tickets to The Snow Dragon and a Junior Lunch at Opera Bar.
