Full steam ahead for cruising out of Singapore
Singapore’s pilot program to restart cruising steamed away on November 6 according to Clean Cruising. Dream Cruises commenced short cruises to nowhere after obtaining the Singapore Tourism Board’s CruiseSafe Certification. Tprotocols to ensure safe cruising, including having the entire crew quarantined for 21 days prior and tested for COVID-19. The ship was operated at half occupancy to help with social distancing measures. “Since the announcement, the calls have been coming nonstop. Online enquiries as well. So, this is very encouraging,” Michael Goh, president of Dream Cruises at Genting Cruise Lines, said recently.
Dream Cruises’ World Dream ship was the first to sail from Nov. 6. Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas is tipped to start in December. The Singapore Government is keen to kickstart tourism in the country and they obviously want to see their state-of-the-art cruise terminal functioning again. World Dream is currently ranked ninth in the ‘Large Resort Ship’ category by the world renowned Berlitz Cruising and Cruise Ships 2020 Guide.
