G Adventures will host a “massive outdoor tent party”, complete with costumes, in the shadow of Transylvania’s Bran Castle this Halloween, having secured exclusive access to the castle, with its Dracula associations, for the night of 31 October 2018.

The operator has built the party event into a three-day Romania travel experience, priced from AUD 499 (land only, obviously).

Travellers will journey from the capital of Bucharest to the heart of Transylvania where infamous Bran Castle perches high on a set of cliffs overlooking the valleys below.

The publicity states: “Upon arrival at the castle, travellers can wander the hidden tunnels and secret staircases, as they tour the creaking corridors of the 14th century castle, which is rumoured to have been home to Count Dracula.

“That same evening, All Hallows’ Eve, while dressed to kill in full costume, travellers will dance into the night in a spooktacular G Adventures party tent set in the shadows of Bran Castle with drinks, food trucks and great music all available.”

So what’s the association with Dracula? Bran, Romania’s biggest Dracula-linked tourist attraction and commonly called “Dracula’s Castle”, is one of several locations linked to the Dracula legend, including Poenari Castle and Hunyadi Castle.

Dracula

Historians say Bran has “tangential associations with Vlad the Impaler”, the weird prince believed to have inspired Bram Stoker’s 1897 eerie gothic novel Dracula.

On the G Adventures trip, travellers also get to explore nearby Brasov, visiting the Black Church and the Brasov History Museum. They can hike in one of the nearby national parks.
