The world’s oldest and most glamorous film festival opens in Venice this month, putting us all in the mood to get behind the glitz, the glamour and the hordes of tourists to discover the ‘other side’ of this spellbinding city.

The International Venice Film Festival is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and will run from 29 August to 8 September 2018.

The good news is that UTracks, the active European holiday specialist has a great range of itineraries that get you behind the scenes, experiencing the very best of this grand Italian city and its surrounding regions.

But we’d suggest you get in quick and book one of these four itineraries, before the film festival’s end credits have rolled.

Starting from the mountains around Bolzano, take in the beauty of Lake Garda and wind through pretty meadows and orchards as you cycle past Venetian villas and through the historic Veneto region. Cycle the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea

From the imposing peaks of the Dolomites through Prosecco vineyards to the canals of Venice: the combination of both mountains and the sea are two infallible ingredients to ensure the success of any great cycling route. Offering jaw dropping views, the route winds its way around the foot of the Dolomites through Cortina, along an old rail trail and onto the Venetian plain, where the mountains give way to rolling vineyards, before reaching Venice on the Adriatic Sea.
