Georgina Reid author of online magazine, The Planthunter, who commands over 79 thousand followers on Instagram and Michael McCoy, landscaper, blogger and award-winning host of Dream Gardens, ABC TV will appear together in a free public event at The Calyx in The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, on Monday 28 October.

Climate change and shrinking backyards due to urbanisation will be key discussion points in Garden Design – Enhancing, enriching and reshaping your world, centred on how the principles of garden design and considered planting schemes can help combat these challenges.

Almost 90% of Australians live in urban areas (Australian Bureau of Statistics) making the design and greening of both indoor and outdoor spaces vital for the health and wellbeing of both people and the environment.

“As ‘change’ is the only thing certain about climate change, our design and plantings must contain inbuilt resilience and adaptability. This is a challenging and exciting time to be a garden designer,” McCoy says.

Appropriately the backdrop for this discussion will be one of the largest changeable interior green walls in the Southern Hemisphere, housed inside The Calyx.

Members of the public who attend the event will have the opportunity to ask questions in addition to meeting and greeting these design world icons.

Michael McCoy returns to television in a second series of Dream Gardens on Tuesday 29 October at 8pm.
