Glamping – glamorous camping – is set to arrive on the Tweed Coast, with the launch of The Hideaway Cabarita Beach, just 20 minutes’ drive south of Coolangatta Airport on the NSW Tweed Coast. Special introductory rates are available till 24 January 2019.
The ‘boutique outdoor hotel’ will open on Boxing Day, providing the perfect last-minute holiday opportunity for those who like the great outdoors – but prefer the creature comforts of permanent campsites with air-conditioning, quality bedding and hotel-like services.
Just steps from the sand, the glamping retreat offers 13 classic bell tents, 5 Deluxe Bell Tents and 5 larger tents perfect for families and/or friends’ groups, along with two retro ‘CABA’vans – permanent caravan-style cabins, ideal for couples.
The Hideaway offers many of the amenities of a hotel with communal lounge areas, bean bags, a fire pit, break-out zones and Wi-Fi. A commercial kitchen prep area is well-equipped with state of the art cooking facilities, utensils, crockery, a fridges, microwave, toasters, and fresh roasted coffee station.
Highlighting The Hideaway’s commitment to making glamping even more comfortable is a pioneering ensuite amenities block, with cubicles including toilet, shower, quality products and vanity to provide maximum privacy. A dedicated pamper area is provided for extra comfort.
The Hideaway ‘village’ is just a short stroll through nature reserve onto the golden sands of Cabarita Beach, one of many renowned surf beaches in the region. It is also only 100m from the main shopping precinct, with access to an array of quaint cafés, trendy shops, wining and dining. For those seeking pampering, the day spa of Halcyon House is almost next door.
The on-site host at The Hideaway can connect guests with tour operators to take advantage of surf lessons, stand-up paddle boarding, canal canoeing, wellness hours, bike hire, private tours of the Tweed region, tours of Mt Warning and other local attractions.
Announcing the Boxing Day opening for The Hideaway, General Manager, Meggan Gardner, said that glamping was the growth sector of the accommodation industry, and The Hideaway would take the concept to new levels.
“We call it a ‘boutique outdoor hotel’ because we offer many hotel-like services, but with a genuine outdoors experience,” she said.
“Camping under the stars has always been a very attractive idea for couples, friends, families and groups – but these days, the new generation of travellers are looking for a camping holiday that comes with a really comfortable bed, quality services and upgraded, private bathroom facilities. We have done a lot of research and we think that with our beautiful location we can offer the best of both worlds – the great outdoors with great creature comforts.

Ms Gardner said that an official launch would take place in the New Year when they would launch new facilities and services and announce special products to target a range of markets, including special packages for groups.
Cabarita Beach is located 20 minutes’ drive south of Coolangatta Airport, 30 minutes north of Byron Beach and 50 minutes north of Ballina Airport.
