Gold Coast tops the list as the most desired domestic destination for Easter Long Weekend, according to

To help Aussies travel with confidence this Easter, leading travel search engine, ​​, has analysed data from billions of flight searches globally to uncover the top destinations across Australia for the upcoming Easter Long Weekend.

To suit every travellers’ desires this Easter, KAYAK has shared the top domestic destinations, the top trending domestic destinations and the domestic destinations with the biggest price drop over Easter.

Top Domestic Destinations

When it comes to choosing the perfect destination within Australia this Easter, Gold Coast tops the list as the most searched destination, seeing an 11% year-on-year increase in flight searches and even a 24% decrease in flight prices.The beautiful sunny coast offers wide stretches of pristine beaches and adventurous theme parks, making it a go-to Easter escape for families and solo travellers. KAYAK also identified through its ‘​Best Time to Book​’ tool that the optimum time to book a cheap trip to the Gold Coast is one week in advance, so last minute travellers are in luck.

For those who are looking for food, culture and shopping all in one destination, Melbourne comes insecond, with a 16% year-on-year increase in flight searches and a 20% year-on-year decrease in flight prices.

Trending Domestic Destinations

The gorgeous Hamilton Island has seen the highest year-on-year increase with 70%, ranked as top trending destination.. Travellers will also be able to find some good deals as it has also seen a 33% decrease in flight prices.

Other sunny locations including Cairns and Perth both have seen flight search increases (33% and 14% year-on-year respectively) whilst the culture and wine regions in Melbourne and Hobart have piqued travellers’ interest, seeing 16% and 53% year-on-year increases respectively.

Domestic Destinations with the Biggest Price Drops has also revealed the top destinations that have seen a significant decrease in flight prices year-on-year for the Easter break,which will be good news to many travellers.

Popular and picturesque destination such as Hamilton Island has seen a 33% year-on-year decrease in flight prices, followed by the Gold Coast (-24% year-on-year ) and Brisbane (-21% year-on-year).
