Journeying coast to coast from Mumbai to Kolkata, and visiting the hill plantations of Darjeeling, the bazaars of Delhi and the famous sites of Agra and spiritual Varanasi, the Deccan Odyssey hotel-train is an iconic Indian travel experience. Here, Mahesh Ramnani, the train’s exceptional guide and tour leader, takes guests on a virtual journey through northern India, following the route of the Darjeeling Mail tour.

‘The Openings of Siberia’ online lecture – Thursday 28 May at 14:00pm (New York time)
The endless steppe of Siberia provides the backdrop for Golden Eagle Luxury Trains’ iconic Trans-Siberian departure. Yet, as the vast expanse slips past outside the carriage window, it is easy to underestimate the crucial role Siberia has played in Russian history. In this lecture, George Munro, a professor of History at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, USA, will reveal more about Siberia’s past and its importance to Russia and the world.

‘Genghis Khan and the Making of an Empire’ online lecture – Thursday 4 June at 14:00pm (New York time)
Led by Major Gordon Corrigan, a renowned military historian and regular guest speaker onboard the Golden Eagle hotel-train, this lecture will examine the life and legacy of Genghis Khan, the founder of the mighty Mongol Empire. From his humble origins and how he unified constantly feuding Mongol tribes, to how his empire spread law, technology and culture throughout the known world, Major Corrigan’s lecture will reveal a different side to a man often thought of as little more than a barbarian butcher.
