About Soi Rambuttri Bangkok
This road has the same flare as Khao San Road and first made a name for itself back in the 1980s. It is the home of cool and trendy places for the new age crowd, and you can still find Hippies here. Khao San Road is now completely a tourist trap. It is a great place to drink heavily and mingle with the crowd, but there are lots of rip offs too. Soi Rambuttri still holds true to the original backpacker scene immortalized in the Alex Garland novel, “The Beach”.
As with most cities, Bangkok can be quite an expensive place to visit. But even in today’s holiday climate where tourists get less for their dollars, Soi Rambuttri has managed to retain its affordability and charm. The hostels and hotels are quaint old-style buildings with clean rooms, AC, and good service. The Bars have great music, creative drinks, and better prices.
Reasons to visit Soi Rambuttri
Even if you are visiting Bangkok with a large budget, a trip over to Soi Rambuttri is essential. There are some fantastic bars and restaurants on ‘the road’ with some of the most competitive pricing in the city.
Soi Rambuttri offers a great selection of trendy hippie-style bars where you can find highly competitive happy hours. Beers and shots cost about 100 THB. We have not listed any Soi Rambuttri bars because the names and owners of the bars routinely change. But if you are looking for a night out drinking for inexpensive prices., give Soi Rambuttri a chance.
One of the most exciting aspects of visiting Bangkok is being able to sample some amazingly cheap yet fantastic Thai food delights. Soi Rambuttri is lined with many street food vendors offering delicious things at cheap prices. They have fine sit-down restaurants too with stunning Pad Thai, Tom Yam, and other Thai classics. Visiting just for the food is an absolute must.
One of the best reasons to check out Soi R. is that it is just one street away from Khao San Road. You can take in the whole KSR scene and have a lot of fun without actually having to stay there all the time! You can slip away back to normal life with just a short walk.
Stay in Soi Rambuttri
The other main reason why so many people visit Soi Rambuttri is to take advantage of the immensely affordable accommodation options. You can find beds in hostels and cheap hotel rooms with AC for less than 500 THB per night. You can even find full-service hotel rooms with amenities for approximately 800 THB per night.
Some smart tourists stay on Soi Rambuttri for a couple of nights to enjoy the nightlife, cheap hotels & restaurants, while also exploring nearby tourist attractions. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Chinatown are a just short Tuk-Tuk ride away. People sometimes spend a couple of nights in this area and then a couple of nights in a more upscale place such as Sukhumvit Road or Silom.
Finding Soi Rambuttri
Soi Rambuttri enjoys a very central location in the heart of Bangkok. The street is situated just a block away from an area called Rattanakosin near the Chao Phraya River. An area that sometimes referred to as ‘Banglamphu’. But as mentioned, the easiest location landmark is Khao San Road. The closets BTS stations are about 5 Km away, so it is a long walk. You can go to Siam, Ratchatewi, or National Stadium stops and taxi from there.
